1. Semler Scientific Adds More Bitcoin to Treasury

On June 5, Cointelegraph reported that U.S.-based medical technology company Semler Scientific has increased its Bitcoin (BTC) holdings to 4,449 BTC. Between May 23 and June 3, the company purchased an additional 185 BTC for $120 million, with an average price of $107,974 per BTC.

2. SEC Filing Reveals $410M Investment in Bitcoin

According to a June 4 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Semler has invested approximately $410 million in Bitcoin since it began its accumulation strategy. As of June 3, the estimated value of their BTC holdings reached around $472.9 million, reflecting a gain of 26.7% on their overall investment.

3. Steady Bitcoin Purchases Throughout 2024 and 2025

Semler’s Bitcoin acquisition didn’t start recently. In May 2024, the company bought $50 million worth of BTC, followed by another $10 million between February and April of this year. This consistent accumulation signals that Semler views Bitcoin as a core long-term asset in its corporate treasury.

4. Stock Price Struggles Despite Bitcoin Strategy

Despite its aggressive Bitcoin acquisition, Semler’s stock price has not shown significant improvement. According to Google Finance, the company’s stock is down 37% year-to-date in 2025. Even after officially adopting its Bitcoin strategy on May 29, 2024, the stock has only risen 16%, showing limited investor enthusiasm.

5. Other Bitcoin-Holding Companies Show Mixed Performance

Semler is not alone in this strategy. Companies like Strategy have seen their stock prices rise 33% in 2025, while Japanese firm Metaplanet surged by a staggering 265%. However, as Semler’s case shows, holding Bitcoin doesn’t always lead to immediate stock market success.

6. Global BTC Holdings by Companies and Institutions

Currently, around 3.4 million BTC are held by corporations and institutions worldwide. The largest shares belong to ETFs and publicly traded companies, followed by sovereign nations. As more firms adopt Bitcoin treasury strategies, Semler's move aligns with a growing global trend.

Conclusion: A Bold Bet on Bitcoin

Semler Scientific’s consistent Bitcoin accumulation — despite limited stock performance — underscores its long-term belief in BTC as a store of value. Whether this will pay off in both crypto and equity markets remains to be seen, but it places Semler among the most committed corporate Bitcoin holders today.
